Weddings

Deer Lake United is committed to working with you to create a unique wedding ceremony that is reflective of your love and joy.

Normally, the minister from Deer Lake United Church conducts the wedding ceremony. If for special reasons another officiant is desired, this person may act as a co-officiant with our minister. Arrangements well in advance of the service must be made for this co-officiant to meet with the representative at the church to coordinate a ceremony that would be appropriate within the United Church of Canada’s theological perspectives and guidelines.

The sanctuary will seat approximately 120 people comfortably.

We strive to keep the cost of the wedding as low as possible. It covers fees for the pastor, musician, caretaker, wedding hostess, as well as a building usage fee. The wedding fee is normally paid in two parts. A non-refundable deposit is required in order to formally book the date and time of your wedding. The balance is payable one month prior to the day of your wedding or by the end of June (for weddings in July and August). Please inquire at the church office for details of the most current wedding fee.

Funerals & Memorial Services

At Deer Lake, we feel privileged to be a part of your plans for a memorial service and celebration of life. We offer our sincere sympathy to you and all who grieve this loss. Our congregation is pleased to offer care to you through a memorial service, making space available for a memorial reception (as available). The service is designed in consultation with the minister and seeks to provide an opportunity to celebrate the life lived, as well as for the community to find comfort and hope into the days ahead. The minister will plan the service with the next-of-kin. Family members or friends may choose to share in a “time of remembrance” during the service. (This is often known as a “eulogy” but may take any form.) Family members may also wish to choose music or a memorial video for the service, perhaps following the wishes of the deceased.

Please speak with our minister for further details.
